“It’s been difficult. This is her graduation year, although they said, ‘Well, you know, you’re welcome, you’re still a student here, although you’re doing online as well, so you can still graduate with your friends,’ but it’s difficult to avoid the interaction and not be part of that taking place, and going to school and having that kind of experience,” he said.

‘Educational program meets or exceeds standards established by Ministry’: Superintendent

NEWS 1130 has reached out to the principal and other staff at NorKam Secondary and School District 73, the former of which did not respond by deadline.

SD73 Superintendent Terry Sullivan told NEWS 1130 in a statement that the school district is not in a position to comment on the circumstances of any particular student, and noted that students are getting access to an educational program that “meets or exceeds the standards established by the Ministry of Education.”

“This means that the opportunity to attend classes in-person full time is available to all students. In fact, only 5% of School District students are still participating in educational programs through remote or distance learning, which programs have been made available due to the students’ individual circumstances or choices,” he said.
